The local 2020 Invention Convention was held on Thursday, January 30th at Liberty Elementary, on behalf of John Deere Ottumwa Works, Domino’s, and the Ottumwa School District. We would like to recognize Grady Zuithoff and Elijah DePaz (6th grade) and Daniel Steele (7th grade) for their participation in this wonderful event! All three inventors received a certificate and medal for their participation. In addition, Grady and Elijah were also selected as one of the “Judges’ Choice” or runner-up. For their runner-up placement, Grady and Elijah received a free pizza certificate from Domino’s. Grady and Elijah’s invention is called "Tooth Buddy" and Daniel’s invention is called “Flood Guard.”
The State Invent Iowa Competition will be held in Iowa City on Monday, April 20th, 2020, sponsored by the Belin Blank Center at the University of Iowa. K-5 TAG teacher, Breanna Dehrkoop, is the coordinator of the local Invention Convention competition.
