Evans held their annual Veterans Day program on Wednesday with approximately two dozen veterans in attendance. Band and choir students performed patriotic selections. Three Thank You Note winners, Sarah Nunez, eigth grade; Joselyn Thompson, sixth grade; and Margaret Hornfeck, seventh grade; read their winning entry to the audience.
Associate Principal, Jerry Miller, was the event's keynote speaker. Miller served in the Army, Iowa Reserves, and the Iowa National Guard for over 20 years. He challenged students to be part of the solution, not part of the program in regards to making Evans a safe place to learn. Evans is defined by the people in the building, he shared.
