GEAR UP sponsored a field trip for every OHS junior to attend a College Fair at Indian Hills Community College. There were 55 colleges represented. Students spent about 90 minutes talking to college and military representatives.
According to Barb Hanson, Ottumwa's GEAR UP coordinator, OHS had 285 juniors participate. GEAR UP's goal is to let all students know that options after high school are attainable. "A college fair like this is especially great for students who weren't thinking about college, and weren't going to do any campus visits," she said.
