180 Days - Evans Adds Talent Search

Amanda Seemann

A new program at Evans Middle School will promote college and career readiness.

Amanda Seemann is the new Talent Search coordinator at Evans. The program goal is to increase the number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll/complete their postsecondary education. The program provides academic, career and financial counseling to its participants.

According to Seemann, she will be working with students individually during advisory to explore career options. “I am an additional person to go for help with planning,” she said. She will also provide several opportunities to visit college campuses and can provide tutoring if needed. The program is funded through a partnership with Indian Hills Community College. A Talent Search coordinator is also located at OHS. "I am open to any student who wants to be involved."

Parents and students must complete an application to take advantage of services offered. The application can be found on the district’s website under Parents. "I'm here to help with whatever they need to be successful," she said.
