Club sponsor, Kolby Streeby, announced the first Student Spotlight nomination: Adianna Wasson from the OHS Stomp Out Stigma Club. SOS (Stomp Out Stigma) is a youth led program that empowers young people to become leaders in middle schools and high schools across the state. Students are given the tools to make effective changes and become mental health ambassadors.
“I met Adianna four years ago when they started Ottumwa High School as a freshman," said Streeby. "From the moment I met Adianna, I knew they were going to be one of my favorite students. Adianna is the first person I think of when I have a project. They are super creative and have a way of seeing the finished project right from the start. Ending mental health stigma is not only a goal, but also a passion for them. Being with Adianna when they talk about upcoming projects makes me want to be a better person. I am sad that Adianna is graduating in a few short months, but excited to share them with the world.”
Adianna says they had a great experience with Stomp Out Stigma and enjoyed connecting with new people that were like them and passionate about mental health.
"A big congratulations from Please Pass the Love to you, Adianna," said Streeby. "Thank you for all of your hard work. Keep being your amazing self!"
