Two buildings will host Veterans Day events this week.
Liberty Elementary - The school will host an all-school assembly on Wednesday, November 10 from 8:30 - 9 a.m. The guest speaker will be Richie Kennedy, a Purple Heart recipient. JROTC will present the flag.
Ottumwa High School - OHS will host two 45-minute assemblies on Wednesday, November 10, starting at 10:45 a.m. The program will feature the OHS band and Meistersingers, JROTC students, a trumpet solo by Dominic Gerleman, and the song, "Proud to be an American," sung by OHS principal, Mark Hanson.
This year's keynote speaker is JROTC Chief John Wynn, speaking on the "Legacy of Veterans Day,"
