The Ottumwa volleyball program held their Second Annual Coaches vs Cancer match on Monday, November 1. The players won the JV match and the coaches won a close varsity match. Spectators enjoyed “betting” on who they thought would win by placing donations in the “Players” or the “Coaches” jars. Players had over $300 compared $150 for coaches.

The volleyball team also had drawings for prizes: a coaches bundle of donated Ottumwa gear, a coffee bundle, a commemorative Coaches vs Cancer t-shirt and sweatshirt, a pizza oven, and a Warehouse Barbecue Co. gift card. We also had a chuck-a-duck contest sponsored by Country Kitchen Cafe.

The team raised $653 that will be donated to local families affected by cancer. Ottumwa Hy-Vees also donated generously with a large grocery bundle towards this cause.

"We are already looking forward to next year. Thank you Ottumwa, for being the BEST and supporting us!" said head volleyball coach, Laura Goemaat.
