We understand many of our seniors and their families were disappointed by the cancellation of a traditional commencement ceremony. Recent changes to Iowa’s COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, allowing large gatherings to be held while following social distancing requirements. As a result, several schools across the state have hosted, or will be hosting, a more traditional outdoor graduation ceremony. After a recent student/parent survey, over 80% of respondents indicated they want Ottumwa High School to host a more traditional graduation ceremony.
OHS will host a formal graduation ceremony on Sunday, July 12 at 2 p.m. at Schafer Stadium.
Students are asked to arrive by 1:15 p.m. with their cap and gown to allow time to check-in and line up for the ceremony. Social distancing guidelines will be followed to the extent possible. Families will be allowed to have up to five members attend the event. Families need to RSVP by July 3 using the link below. Tickets will be sent to the address provided.
