Jose Yepez Rodriguez - Soccer means a great deal to this senior who played all four years as a goalie for the OHS soccer team. He also played two years of football as a kicker for the Bulldogs. Jose found time to be in Al-Exito, a club that promotes leadership skills and requires students to do service projects. Jose’s busy after graduation plans include going to Indian Hills Community College to take Welding Technology, playing soccer, fishing, and playing the drums with his group band. He would also like to coach any soccer goalie that would like to improve their game.
Favorite OHS Memory - “I mostly liked my sophomore soccer season. It was a really good season. That was when I began being a varsity goalkeeper. My senior football season I kicked the winning field goal in a game against Des Moines East. That made the fans really happy. When I got to the locker room everybody was yelling and happy about the winning field goal that I scored for the team.”
Describe something about OHS that stands out to you - “I remember after a soccer game a little kid asked me if playing as a goalkeeper was easy. I told him playing goalie is really hard because you have to block the ball so it won't go in the net.”
Most Influential Teacher - “Mr.Curran - I like his class and I sure do like his stories. Thanks to all teachers, soccer and football coaches for the time.”
What lessons will you take away from your OHS experience? - “Always show respect.”
Advice to Underclassmen - “Always be on time and pass your classes so you can play your sport.”
