Senior Highlights - Maria Horn

Maria Horn

Maria Horn

Maria Horn has a lot to be proud of.  She received a Stepping Towards Success award as a sophomore for overcoming obstacles in her life. As a junior, she tested out of the English Language Learner program after participating since the fifth grade and received an academic letter for earning all As and Bs.

Her extra curricular activities included track and GEAR UP. She competed in the state track meet both her sophomore and junior years.

She plans to attend Indian Hills Community College and transfer to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to pursue a career as a dietitian.

Favorite Memories - Participating in the Diversity Assembly as a sophomore and talking to the entire school about being able to do many things even in a wheelchair. Going to football games with friends and competing in track. Watching the 4x800 team last season win at the state meet. I was able to compete in new events and improved my times at most of the meets. I also enjoyed team activities like team dinners and yoga.

Advice to Underclassmen - “Enjoy your moments in high school with your friends and make new friends because it will go by fast.”
