Ottumwa high school seniors and/or parents seeking help completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) can attend one of several upcoming events.
Students can make an appointment to work with GEAR UP staff at OHS on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. in room 270. Appointments are recommended due to the number of students seeking assistance.
GEAR UP is also hosting a FAFSA event on Saturday, February 29 from 9-11:30 a.m. at SparkTank, located at 325 E. Main in downtown Ottumwa.
C3 is hosting a similar event on Sunday, March 1 at the Ottumwa YMCA. Appointments are recommended and can be scheduled by emailing Barb Hanson, GEAR UP coordinator at [email protected].
This is an important part of the process of applying for funds to continue a student’s education from a six-week program through a four-year education. According to Hanson, 90% of students who do the FAFSA go to college. “Completing the FAFSA is an important part of the process,” she said.
