Two Ottumwa High School students were recognized during the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast as being change makers in our community.
Lily Streeby and Mary Brushwood, both seniors, were recipients of United Way's Change Maker Award. Nominated together, the two formed the Fellowship of the Rainbow club at OHS during their freshman year and have worked to change policies that are more inclusive for all students, including the designation of gender neutral restrooms and use of preferred name.
"It felt nice to be recognized" said Brushwood.
