On Tuesday, October 1, 42 families received FAFSA assistance at Ottumwa High School.
The event was sponsored by GEAR UP in collaboration with the IHCC TRIO program. There were also numerous volunteers assisting families with the application process, including a high school teacher and counselor. "What a great success!" said Barb Hanson, GEAR UP coordinator. "One mom said to me, 'Thank you so much for doing this. We would never have even known where to start without this help!'" Hanson heard that message echoed throughout the night by many families.
"It’s amazing to see everyone rally together for these kids!: Hanson said.
