Several students from Ottumwa High School attended the statewide Best Buddies Friendship Ball Saturday in Des Moines.
Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
The downtown Hilton featured lights, cameras, and movie statues as students and sponsors danced the night away. Best Buddies chapters ithroughout Iowa participated in the event.
OHS members who attended the annual Friendship Ball included: Christina Westerfield, Mandy Dage, Grace Bookin-Nosbisch, Alli Bookin-Nosbisch, Natasha Ulin, Albert Garcia, Kevin Guerra Trujillo, Jade Davis, Justin Chapple, Hawk Brumbaugh, Jaime Hallgren, Jimmy Orndoff, Selena Smith, and Joanna Smith. Ottumwa club sponsors are Carly Wettstien and Alair Gregory.
