Three evening dates remain on the facility assessment conversation schedule to allow citizens an opportunity to discuss the recent facility assessment. Superintendent Nicole Kooiker and members of the district's facility committee will host these opportunities for the community to hear about the assessments and share their views.
The conversations will focus on the recent facility assessment that was shared with the Ottumwa Board of Education in December. The assessment looked at facility needs in Ottumwa's north side schools, including: Eisenhower, Horace Mann, James, Wilson, and Ottumwa High School. The report is intended to be used as a planning tool to assist the district in setting short- and long-term facility goals. The assessment looked at three areas, health and life safety; building improvements; and site improvements. These were then prioritized and cost estimates were provided.
District representatives will meet with community members at several locations and times, including:
- March 4 at Horace Mann Elementary at 6 p.m.
- March 7 at Wilson Elementary School at 6 p.m.
- March 12 at Ottumwa High School at 6 p.m
A Spanish interpreter will be on hand at all three sessions with a Marshallese interpreter also available at Wilson.
