Ottumwa High School vocal students Bethany Woodall, soprano, and Kele Allison, tenor, have attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as members of the 2017 Iowa All-State Chorus. Woodall and Allison are students under the director of Dennis Vasconez, the vocal instructor at OHS. The 2017 Festival will celebrate the 71st anniversary of this prestigious event. District Auditions for the 601 member All-State Chorus were held Saturday, October 21. Approximately 17% of the students who audition are selected for membership in the All-State ensemble. Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday, November 17 and 18, and the Festival Concert will be presented to the public Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum on the Iowa state University campus in Ames. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for re-broadcast. Please check the IPTV website (www.iptv.org) for dates and times. This program is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators Association.
