Dental Screenings in November

To complete State of Iowa required dental screenings, the local I-Smile™ dental hygienist will be at Ottumwa High School during the month of November.

The Iowa legislature passed a law in 2008 requiring all students enrolled in ninth grade have a dental screening.  The registered dental hygienist will provide screenings for all students without a dental certificate on file. The dental screening is an examination of the soft and hard tissues of the mouth and will be completed with a flash light, disposable mouth mirror and gloves.  An informational letter will be sent home with your student following the screening.

Parents who do not want their child to receive a free dental screening from the I-Smile™ program should contact the school nurse. If a student has received an exam within the last year, please call your dentist and have them fax the State of Iowa approved Dental Screening certificate to Ottumwa High School.  Dental offices have access to this form.
