The Ottumwa Police Department recently donated 15 mobile radios to Ottumwa Schools.
In 2013, the Ottumwa Police Department, along with several other first responder agencies in Wapello County, completed a system overhaul which required new communications equipment. The communications equipment previously used prior to the upgrade was not compatible with the digital P25 system.
In looking for ways to place this communications equipment back into service, the Ottumwa Police Department and Wapello County Emergency Management identified Ottumwa Schools after conversations with Principal Dave Harper. The equipment was re-programmed with the help of the Ottumwa Fire Department. All of the communications equipment was originally purchased by the Wapello County E911 Board. Evans Middle School, Ottumwa High School, and Liberty Elementary each received five radios.
Thanks Ottumwa Police and Fire Departments!
