OHS Modifies Dress Code for 2013-14

Ottumwa High School will make some changes to their student dress code for the upcoming school year.

Ottumwa High School will make some changes to their student dress code for the upcoming school year. The following guidelines are designed to encourage good grooming habits as well as a more serious scholastic attitude.  Regulations for appearance/dress apply equally to male and female students.

The following will NOT be considered appropriate school attire:

  1. Headwear - hats, hoods, bandanas, sunglasses, etc.
  2. Clothing that exposes undergarment (bra straps, underwear, gym shorts)
  3. Clothing that exposes the midsection or cleavage<
  4. Strapless, halter-style tops
  5. Sleeveless tops
  6. Clothing with large, open arm holes
  7. Clothing with alcohol, tobacco, drug advertising, inappropriate words or phrases
  8. Skirts, shorts, or dressed that are not appropriate in length (not appropriate means more than 5 inches above the top of the knee)
  9. Leggings, yoga pants that are not worn without an appropriate length skirt
  10. Athletic shorts that are more than 5 inches above the top of the knee
  11. Pants with any holes - frayed or otherwise
  12. Pants worn below the waist line
  13. Pajamas
