Congratulations to Mitch Buller, Cody McConnell, and Nick Sedore for successfully completing the L.E.A.P. Academy. They will attend a graduation ceremony with their families on Wednesday, December 4.
The L.E.A.P. (Leadership, Empowerment, Achievement, Progress) Academy was created in March, 2013 by Indian Hills Community College with the goal of inspiring future leaders. High school juniors enter the program in the spring semester of their junior year and continue through the fall semester of their senior year. The students meet at Indian Hills six times and complete a service project in their community during the summer.
During their on–campus meetings, students engage in a variety of hands-on activities designed to develop leadership skills in the following areas: team building, goal setting, ethics, creativity, communication, handling conflict, problem solving, servant leadership, and leading change.
Forty-eight students from southern Iowa attended the academy. Cargill Meat Solutions sponsored Ottumwa's students.
