Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line each day while protecting our community members. This job comes with little thanks. Two groups of students attending Ottumwa Schools’ Accelerated Career Academy are collaborating with a community organization to change that.
Partnerships for Children & Families members are collaborating with students in the Bulldog Action Group and iJAG to host an appreciation luncheon, Lunch with the Law, on Thursday, February 23 for local law enforcement members. This is information from Sara Persons about the Partners for Children and Families group.
The Partners for Children and Families group is a collaboration of community agencies. This group includes representation education, social services, health, faith based, courts, domestic violence, mental health and substance abuse. Partners for Children and Families support the efforts of the Ottumwa Bulldog Action group.
Students are also encouraging the public to write notes/letters of appreciation to local law enforcement personnel and send them to the Children & Families of Iowa office at 408 East Main Street, Ottumwa, Iowa. Questions can be directed to the Accelerated Career Academy at 683-1342 ext. 3.
“I believe that our local law enforcement officers do everything they can to keep us safe,” said Amanda LeGrande, a teacher at the Accelerated Career Academy. “The students have organized this so that officers will know that their community notices and appreciates their service.”
