The Ottumwa High School show choir, Sudden Impact, finished their 2017 competitive season with another Grand Championship on Saturday, March 11 at the Quincy Show Choir Invitational. The group won over 12 other competing show choirs representing Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. After the day round, Sudden Impact was in 2nd place overall but received the Grand Champion award after the finals round at night.
This is the group’s second Grand Champion award this year. This is the first time the group has won Grand Champions more than once in a season. The group also won the following awards at Quincy: Best Vocals, Best Choreography, People’s Choice Award, Best Iowa School, and Outstanding Male Vocalist; David Bossou. After the evening was done, Sudden Impact came home with seven trophies. Sudden Impact is under the direction of Dennis and Melissa Vasconez.
