The Ottumwa High School show choir, Sudden Impact, placed 1st within the 4A division and 1st overall on Saturday, February 18 at the Indianola Show Choir Invitational. The group’s score was tied with Skutt Catholic High School from Omaha but Sudden Impact won the tie breaker with the highest vocal score. Ottumwa had the highest vocal score of the day. There were 16 show choirs that competed during the day.
This is the second time in school history Ottumwa has placed 1st at Indianola and the third grand championship ever in school history. Sudden Impact also won the People’s Choice award. This award is given out to the group that gets the most fan votes throughout the day.
The group is under the direction of Dennis and Melissa Vasconez and will be competing at the Southeast Polk RAM Showcase on February, 25 and at the Cedar Rapids Jefferson Show Choir Invitational on March 4.
