The Ottumwa High School show choir, Sudden Impact, competed at the 24th annual Quincy Showcase of Excellence Invitational in Quincy, Illinois on Saturday. This was the first time the group competed outside of the state of Iowa. Competing against 20 other show choirs, Sudden Impact was selected to the finals round for the 13th straight competition and placed 2nd runner-up. Sudden Impact took 1st place during the day in the large school category and received the Best Vocals award for the first time in school history. This award was given to the group that had the highest vocals score throughout the entire day. This was the last competition for the 2016 show choir season.
