Show Choir Receives People's Choice Award

The Ottumwa High School show choir, Sudden Impact, competed at the Keokuk Show Choir Invitational on Saturday, February 13.  Sudden Impact was selected to the finals round for the 11th straight competition.  This is a streak that started in 2012, according to show choir director, Dennis Vasconez.  The group placed third in the 4A division and was third runner-up during the finals.

The group also received it’s first Best Show Design award.  This award goes to the choir that the judges think have the best show put together.  Sudden Impact also received the People’s Choice Award.  This award is voted on by the audience throughout the day.

Senior vocalist, Melanie Enloe, was awarded a $5,000 annual music scholarship to Morningside College in Sioux City.  One performer was selected from each show choir to receive this award.

The group placed third at the Indianola Jazz and Show Choir Invitational on February 20.
