Ottumwa's girls soccer coach has a passion for the game.
Brittany Stober has been named the OHS head girls soccer coach. She replaces Brett McKenzie, who was recently named boys head soccer coach.
Stober began playing soccer in eighth grade and played varsity all four years at OHS. She was team captain her junior and senior years and was named to the all-conference team. She earned a scholarship to play for William Penn. During her years at Penn, she began coaching for the Oskaloosa soccer program. She has coached the past five years and has taken three teams to the Iowa Games.
She sees her first year in Ottumwa as a building year. "We need numbers, we need girls to come out and try," said Stober. "Soccer can be fun, it is not just running and drills."
She is a full-time teacher in the Davis County School District, where she teaches special education. Not only will she be coaching high school girls, she hopes to also become involved in Ottumwa's club soccer program. She hopes to help foster a love of the sport.
