The 18 women who feed district kids each day wanted to give back.
The OHS kitchen held their annual holiday party on Wednesday. Instead of exchanging gifts, they took up a collection and voted on a school group to give the money to. On Thursday, the group donated $450 to the OHS band to support their trip to Pearl Harbor in December 2015.
"We wanted to do something different," said OHS Kitchen Manager Becky Stout. "Everyone was on board." The group has decided that this will become an annual tradition.
OHS band director, Troy Gerleman was overwhelmed by the gesture. " So far, there has been a great outpouring of support from the community for this opportunity," he said. "The ladies we work with on a daily basis touched our heart strings and we're eternally grateful."
