Jim Meredith was supposed to graduate from OHS in 1961 but the call to serve his country was stronger. But the dream of a high school diploma has stayed with him throughout his adult years.
On Wednesday, April 27, OHS principal Mark Hanson presented Meredith with an honorary diploma during a brief ceremony held in the OHS cafeteria during first lunch."James Meredith proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy," said Hanson. "Ottumwa High School is very proud to honor him with an honorary diploma. Mr. Meredith's feeling for OHS is very strong, and it's great to have him as a part of the Bulldog Nation."
