Brooke Gevock, a gifted and talented teacher at Ottumwa High School, received recognition at the school board meeting on Monday night.
Gevock was recently awarded the ITAG (Iowa Talented and Gifted) Research Award Grant. The Iowa Talented and Gifted Association awards a research grant annually linked to talented and gifted students and/or related activities in the State of Iowa. Research should be useful to the furthering of talented and gifted education in Iowa.
Gevock is currently doing research on the identification of under-served students. She credited Jose Ortiz for his assistance in working with English Language Learners. A representative from Great Prairie Area Education Agency presented the award.
