Ottumwa High School has announced the valedictorians for the Class of 2017. Eight students earned a 4.0 GPA, including: Justin Budan, Ellen Carlson, Marissa Cartwright, Janielle Cobler, Roger Cruz, Kalina Eskew, Taylor Horton, and Alexzandrea Woudenberg. "I can't think of a greater honor bestowed on a high school student," said OHS principal, Mark Hanson. "Not only does the title of valedictorian indicate an academically gifted student, but it most certainly indicates the toughness and perseverance of that student. Four years of high school is a marathon, and these students have demonstrated the grit and determination to not be satisfied with anything less than excellence. Congratulations to our valedictorians on a tremendous accomplishment."
