600 Voice Choir to Perform

This year's annual Southeast Iowa Choral Festival will be held at the Hellyer Student Life Center on the Indian Hills Community College campus on Tuesday, October 27 at 7 p.m. The festival choir will be comprised of approximately 600 students representing six different area high schools. The high schools involved include Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mount Pleasant, Ottumwa and Washington. The combined choir will perform selections from Mozart’s Requiem. This will be the first time that Mozart’s Requiem will be performed at this festival. Along with the Requiem, each school will perform a selection separately.

The conductor for this year’s festival choir will be Dr. Mark Babcock. Dr. Babcock is the current M. Joan Kuyper Farver Endowed Chair in Music and Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choirs at Central College. The festival choir will be accompanied by a full orchestra. Admission for this event is $5 for both adults and students. The public is invited to attend.
