Five OHS students earned bronze medals recently at the recent Iowa Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) conference.
Three seniors, Cheyanne Young, Fernando Palacios, and Astrid DePaz, represented OHS at the Culinary Star Event. Four teams prepared a menu consisting of sauteed chicken breast with mustard cream sauce, fresh broccoli saute, rice pilaf, and AEblekage (Danish Apple Trifle). Awards were announced Tuesday.
Two other students, Allison Grooms and Madalyn Wiggins, earned bronze medals for Focus on Children.
"I'm very proud of these young people," said Debb Kent, OHS Family Consumer Science instructor.
