OHS junior, Ellen Willhoit, will be performing "Czardas" by Monti during the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra concert on Saturday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in St. John Auditorium at Indian Hills. Willhoit, a student violinist, is the recent recipient of the symphony's Young Artist Competition. She is the daughter of Joan Summers Willhoit and Dennis Willhoit.
The Ottumwa Symphony's Family Concert will also feature student art work. Several students from Ottumwa Community Schools will have their art projects incorporated into the symphony performance. After listening to a descriptive piece about some fantastic characters and animals, the students responded with art works depicting what they heard. As the piece, "Sonata Representativa" by Biber, is performed by the orchestra, the student masterpieces will be projected onto a screen for the audience to enjoy.
All students are admitted free and adult tickets are $14.
