Linda Voigt and Jessica Horvath
On Saturday, OHS juniors Jessica Horvath and Linda Voigt placed second out of 29 teams at the City Classic Debate Tournament in Iowa City. Megan Geidel and her debate partner, Alex Halvorsen, both freshmen, placed ninth. Geidel was ranked third best speaker at the tournament. She was the only girl in the top four and was the only non-senior. Linda Voigt was ranked fifth best speaker.
"This was an exciting tournament for us," said OHS debate coach Susan Gates."One of our veteran teams, Jessica Horvath and Linda Voigt, made it to the final round of the tournament. Two students were ranked in the top five speakers. These are great accomplishments for our students headed into the district tournament on February 13-14. They have made exceptional strides this year, and it's great to see their hard work and dedication paying off for them."
