The Ottumwa High School JROTC battalion received a plaque at Monday’s Board of Education meeting. The award, presented by Oskaloosa Knights of Columbus representative, Duane McClure, recognized the students for their assistance at a November USO Dinner Show. The event honored veterans in the Oskaloosa area.
The Bulldog Battalion provided vital assistance that was needed, McClure told the board. “In the finest tradition of the U.S. Army, the students volunteered to make the event a success,” he said. Cadet Battalion Commander Jacqueline Aparicio accepted the award on behalf of the group. The program is under the direction of Chief John Wynn and Chief Rick Reinier.
