IJAG to Help Students Dress for Success

IJAG students sort prom dresses in the OHS Success Closet.

A free closet at Ottumwa High School is getting a make over.

Students in the OHS IJAG (Iowa Jobs for America's Graduates) program have been cleaning the closet, literally. The closet had been coordinated by different groups over the years and is now back under the control of IJAG. Previously, variety of clothing sizes was available. The focus of the updated closet, named the Success Closet, is on high school students, said Tina Walker, IJAG coordinator. Students have sorted and donated clothes not high school-sized. IJAG also hopes to provide more professional clothing options. "We hope to be able to help students who need certain things for a job interview," said Madison Randall, a junior in the IJAG program. "We're trying to make it look better, brighten it up a bit." The closet also carries items such as prom dresses. All items are free to OHS students

Randall said the Success Closet is seeking donations, especially clothing that can be worn to interviews, including shoes. Persons with donations can contact Walker at 641-683-4444 x1120.
