The Ottumwa Board of Education approved the OHS Program of Studies for the 2015-16 school year on Monday. Part of the approval included the addition of 10 new semester electives in the Language Arts department to replace 11th and 12th grade English. Courses include Multicultural Literature; Transcendentalism, Romanticism, and Gothicism in Literature; Literature Through Media; Survival, War, and Conflict; and The American Hero.
Other changes include:
- updated credits for JROTC program
- new Sports and Entertainment Marketing course
- new String Class for the Novice Player
- added two new math courses
- added soccer to the PE curriculum
- removed two AP courses and added two dual credit courses in social studies
- added a ACT Test Prep course
- added a new video production course
- added a new PE elective, Physical Education Peer Assistant
