OHS will participate in their first College Signing Day on Friday, May 1 from 7:45 - 8:15 a.m. and during the three lunch sessions in the school cafeteria. Seniors will be encouraged to indicate their college intentions during this national event. The goal of College Decision Day is to recognize high school seniors for their post-secondary educational plans and encourage younger students and families to prepare early for post-secondary education. College Decision Day is held annually on May 1, to coincide with the date that most seniors must inform a college of their plans to enroll.
Last May, First Lady Michelle Obama announced her Reach Higher initiative to encourage students to complete their education beyond high school. People across the country helped mark the launch by wearing their college gear and sharing the importance of higher education on social media. On Friday, May 1st, she will celebrate the first anniversary of Reach Higher. She encourages students to wear their college gear all day.
