Ottumwa High School will host Veteran’s Day assemblies on Tuesday, November 11 at 10:45 a.m. and noon in the OHS auditorium. The program will include JROTC posting/retiring the colors; “Star Spangled Banner” by the OHS band and chorus; special music by Andy Avery, a former singer for the band, Journey, who has toured with KISS, Bon Jovi, and Guns & Roses; .and “Taps.” Mary Ellen Hamski Winston will be the guest speaker. Principal Mark Hanson will conclude the event with closing remarks. Each veteran in attendance will also receive a pin. Other activities surrounding the event include banners on each floor that allow students and staff to write the name of a family member or friend who has served in our armed forces.
