OHS recently completed the Iowa College Application Campaign Week from October 14-16. The Campaign is part of a national effort to engage and inform students to take a step toward college by completing college applications their senior year.
OHS seniors participated and completed close to 200 college applications during the three day event. Students were able to utilize time from their Government or Economics class and filled out college applications online in the school's media center. College representatives from IHCC, William Penn and the University of Northern Iowa were available to help students fill out applications, and discuss the benefits of going to college. The week also included a Senior Day sponsored by IHCC. Over 100 students from OHS attended the event on the IHCC campus to learn more about programs available.
Another program within the Iowa College Division, GEAR UP Iowa, provided waivers for a majority of the students’ application fee to the Iowa Regents schools.
