Gardner Recognized for Leadership and STEM Aspirations

James Gardner , an OHS senior, was presented with the Award of Excellence from the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists by Principal Mark Hanson on Wednesday during his Calculus class. Hanson shared with the class the award is no small honor and includes the signature of Buzz Aldrin, pilot of Apollo 11 and the second man to walk on the moon. Aldrin is the Academy’s science director.

Gardner was selected to attend the 2015 Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders in Boston this past summer. At the Congress, students were mentored by leaders in a wide variety of scientific fields as well as government and the public sector, including Nobel Laureates, top scientific university deans, and leaders in scientific research and cutting-edge technology, as well as leaders from private industry.
