The OHS marching band, Pride of Ottumwa, finished their ninth competition season on Saturday with a Division I rating. This is the highest honor given at the State Marching Band Contest.
The 2013 competition marching season has been very successful. The student musicians earned two 1st place finishes, two 2nd place finishes and two 3rd place finishes. “This is great progress from a program that was struggling to compete in Class 4A five years ago,” said Troy Gerleman, band director. “We are being innovative and creative with our marching programming.”
