TV celebrity, Cherielynn Westrich, will be talking to students in two automotive classes at Ottumwa High School on Wednesday, April 6.
Westrich appears on the show Overhaulin’, an American reality show that features a team of ace mechanics and designers who transform junky autos into unique custom cars. She is a car builder on the A-Team with Chip Foose. She has built 60 cars on as many episodes. She also appeared as a fabricator and builder on other reality shows including Rock my RV and Detroit Muscle. She also builds and restores muscle cars in her one-woman shop in Orange, California called Mavin Associated. She has worked alongside some of the most well-known builders in the industry.
She got her start in the auto industry at North Hollywood Speedometer rebuilding gauges and speedometers.
Prior to becoming a professional car builder and gear head, she was a member of the band, The Rentals. Their first album hit number seven on the Billboard’s Modern Rock chart and number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100. She has two videos on MTV and has hosted shows for MTV News. Her band shared the stage and billing with bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billy Idol, and Alanis Morissette. She has also acted in commercials.
Westrich then went on to be in several automotive programs. She got her start in the auto industry at North Hollywood Speedometer rebuilding gauges and speedometers. Her car experiences include tear downs; restorations; working on the dash and instrument cluster; welding; fabrication; body work, etc.
She recently moved to Ottumwa.
