• Gun Safety

Gun violence has become an epidemic in the United States. The Marin County Office of Education has worked with the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the Marin County District Attorney’s Office, and with an organization called “End Family Fire” (EndFamilyFire.org) to help address the issue of gun violence and educate community members around gun safety. We strongly encourage all families to review the attached letter, put out by the county office of education, and to sign the gun safety pledge.

    Know the Signs

While we hope that we never have to endure an active shooter incident, it is imperative that we are prepared as a staff. Our administrators have attended trainings at the Marin County Office of Education (and continue to do so when offered), and all our procedures are based under the direction and guidance of local law enforcement (current best practices). Having an awareness around identifying potential threats is reviewed with staff as well.  This also extends to our parents and local community. The main issue in many of these incidents is to identify people who may want to cause harm to a community. It is imperative that we communicate with one another, not just between school and law enforcement, but between parents and students as well. We all have a responsibility to help one another and to report any suspicious activity and/or change in behavior to the school and the police department.  If you see something, say something.
