Mrs. Laura Witcher

The 2022-2023 school year will be Laura Witcher’s eleventh school year as the Counselor at Cherokee Bend and 27th school year working in education, counseling, and mental health. Mrs. Witcher is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and earned her Masters of Education in Community and Agency Counseling at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was a National Board Certified School Counselor in Early Childhood through Young Adulthood from 2007 to 2017 and has worked with children and youth previously with The Amelia Center (a grief counseling agency and part of Children’s Hospital of Alabama), Jefferson County Schools Alternative School, and Vestavia Hills Cahaba Heights before coming to Mountain Brook Schools. Mrs. Witcher has a passion for helping children and for learning. She is thrilled to be at Cherokee Bend and to help the school build community among stakeholders. Some of her favorite activities at CBS are classroom lessons, individual counseling, reading to kids, and helping kids achieve their goals. Mrs. Witcher lives in Mountain Brook with her husband, two teen daughters, and Lucky, their dog.
