MGSD Opening Convocation 2020

This year our MGSD Opening Convocation looked a bit different from past years. Normally, we have a full auditorium with all of our staff from across the district celebrating the new school year. This year, we had a small in-person crowd, while staff watched a live-stream of our announcements of our district award recipients and a challenge put forth by our Superintendent, Dr. Mauney. We are proud of all of our fantastic faculty and staff; however, special congratulations go out to our MGSD Assistant Principal of the Year Samone Graham (MHS), MGSD Administrator of the Year Jemma Conley (Elementary Curriculum & Instruction Coordinator), MGSD Beginning Teacher of the Year Felicia Tapper (EMIS), and MGSD Teacher of the Year Yevette Peveler (NF Woods/MIWAYE)! A special THANK YOU to Mooresville Ford for being such an amazing community partner and providing our TOY with a new Ford Escape! Dr. Mauney reminded us of our WHY... our students and community. He finished the celebration with wise words and our challenge for the year -- to build relationships and connect with our students, as well as each other. While this may be a bit more difficult at the start of this year, he stressed that it is more important than ever as we begin the year under such different circumstances.
