Message from the Superintendent
Hello MGSD Community,
I want to take this opportunity to welcome each of our students to our district for the 2023 - 2024 school year! We are committed to creating a better community by empowering every individual to grow, thrive and succeed. MGSD prioritizes the overall well-being of our students, and we want to make sure both our students and our parents realize this. If you ever have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or a member of the MGSD team.
There are several exciting things happening as we start the new school year. Over the past year, stakeholders in the district and community worked to craft a new strategic plan for MGSD. We are excited to begin implementation of this plan as work on our four identified priority areas:
-
Maximize Opportunity and Achievement
-
Safe, Happy, and Healthy
-
Recruit, Grow, and Retain
-
Culture of Relationships
We are also opening our new Selma Burke Middle School this fall, as well as implementing a new grade span configuration (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12). These steps will provide another state of the art facility for MGSD, while also easing the overcrowding in each of our K-8 schools. We appreciate the continued support of the community, as well as our local elected officials to make this step a reality for our staff and students!
The Mooresville Graded School District is a learning community committed to providing a supportive environment where everyone can reach their full potential. We are fortunate to have strong community support in Mooresville Graded as we believe it truly takes a village to provide excellence for every child, every day. Thank you for all that you do to make MGSD the best school district in North Carolina!
Yours in Service,
Jason Gardner, Ed.D.
