Mooresville Foundation for Excellence in Education
A brief history of The Mooresville Foundation for Excellence in Education:
The Mooresville Foundation for Excellence in Education is a non-profit organization. The Articles of Incorporation state the corporation is organized “to do all things to further the excellence of education in the Mooresville Graded School District.” Founded in 1991 under the guidance of Frank Radar and Dr. Samuel H. Houston, Jr. then superintendent of the Mooresville Schools, the Foundation was established to provide a private source of school supplementary revenue.
A distinguished Board of Directors works diligently to ensure that the Mooresville Graded School District obtains the greatest benefit from foundation contributions. During regular foundation board meetings, proposals from school employees are reviewed and distributions of foundation assets are awarded accordingly. The Foundation is funded by private contributions from members of the community, corporate and non-corporate alike.
Since the fall of 2008, the Foundation has held an annual golf tournament as a means to raise funds in support of every child, every day. The Foundation sought sponsors to make the tournament a successful fundraiser. Several years later, the success of the golf tournament continues to grow allowing the students of MGSD to also grow through the Foundation’s generous support.
You are encouraged to make a contribution to the Foundation so as to continue a history of growth and support for the students of the Mooresville Graded School District. Giving opportunities through the Foundation include:
- Direct Gifts
- Stocks and Bonds
- Real Property
- Charitable Remainder Trust
