Title IX & Non-Discrimination Laws

If a Title IX Sexual Harassment violation has occurred, a formal complaint form may be submitted by a complainant. Please note that for a complaint to fall under Title IX, it must meet certain definitions:

1. The allegations of sexual harassment must occur in an education program or activity located within the United States and of which the recipient has actual knowledge;
2. The sexual harassment is such that a reasonable person would find the unwelcome conduct so severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive that it effectively denies a person equal access to the school’s education program or activity, including conduct based on sex stereotyping.  

If the behavior does not meet the definition under Title IX, it may still fall under our Board of Education's bullying and harassment policy:  Policy Code 4329/7311:  Bullying and Harassing Behavior Prohibited.

Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision-makers, and those involved in any informal resolution process receive annual training on the following topics:

• Civil Rights and Title IX Training - Level 1
• Title IX Investigator Training - Level 2 
• Title IX Decision Maker and Appeals Training - Level 2
• Title IX Coordinator Training & Responsibilities - Level 2

All staff (responsible employees) receive training in the Vector Solutions SafeSchools Training module Title IX Compliance Overview. This course is designed to provide school staff with an overview of Title IX regulations to ensure that their school district is in compliance. Topics covered include the role of legal precedent, regulatory and subregulatory guidance related to Title IX; relevant terminology used in Title IX guidance; and guidelines school districts must follow to remain in compliance with the law.

This training is made up of six sections, followed by an assessment that employees have to score at least a score of 85 percent to receive credit.  The sections of this module include:
