    Principal’s Minute

I can’t believe that we have already been in school for over 2 months - 40 days!  We are off to a great start!   I have loved getting to know the students, teachers, staff, and parents of Canyon Elementary.   I know that a new year and a new principal often bring change.  Please know that I have worked hard to learn about all the great things about Canyon and to provide a new perspective on some of these things.  We always discuss as a faculty how we want things to look moving forward.  My door is always open if you have concerns or questions.  The School Community Council and PTA are also a great resource to discuss any ideas for the future decisions and guidance.  But the one thing that will not change is how much we care about our students!   We value the time we have to help your children learn and grow each day at school.

Looking ahead, we will be holding our Parent Teacher Conferences on November 17-18Watch for more information about scheduling later this month. The Online Scheduler will open for parents at the beginning of November.  We encourage parents to maintain that partnership with the teacher all year long.  We are on the same team.  Reach out anytime to your child’s classroom teacher.  We want each student to be successful here at school and beyond.

We have wonderful teachers at Canyon Elementary who work hard to plan quality instruction and who continue to learn and grow as professionals.  Take a minute to thank a teacher for these efforts.  A kind word can go a long way! Thank you for sharing your children with us each day.   We love working with them. When we all work together we CAN and DO make a difference!

    In the Know...

    Important Things to Remember:

Doors open at 8:35 a.m.  - Please do not drop off your children before then especially as it is getting colder each day.

School STARTS at 9:05 - We have about 15-20 students arriving late each day.  Please adjust your clocks and plan accordingly.          If students arrive after the bell rings they must check in to the office before heading to class.

Thanks for your help with the Drop Off/Pick Up Zone - We are continually working to improve the safety and efficiency of the Zone.  I appreciate all who wait patiently in line and continually move forward along the curb as cars pull out.  This definitely helps things move more smoothly.  Just a reminder that you may choose to wait in the church parking lot and have your children meet you there.   This helps keep the flow of the pick up in front of the school and keeps you from having to wait in a long line of cars.

    From the PTA...
